Alfred Schmidt was a German painter and graphic artist born in 1867 in Dresden. He studied in Karlsruhe with Claus Meyer and in Paris at the Académie Julian. In 1900, he became a resident of Stuttgart and founded a painting school there. He later moved to Graefelfing in 1940 where he spent the rest of his life.
